A 2007 survey by the National Health Interview indicated that in 2006, 14.8% of the U.S. population (43.6 million) was without Health Insurance. Among working-age Adults (18-64), 19.8% did not have health Insurance, a .9% increase from 2005. Approximately 9.3% of children under the age of 18 did not have health insurance. Most alarming is that 32.1% of Hispanic people are uninsured while only 10.4% of non-Hispanic white persons and 15.9% of non-Hispanic black persons were uninsured.
