About Us

The Consumer Health Insurance Advocacy Group (CHIAG) is a not-for-profit organization established for the sole purpose of proving unbiased and apolitical assistance to the general public and Small Business owners seeking information on health care plans. The entire organization is run on a voluntary basis and, as such, is staffed by a cross section of concerned consumers, medical professionals, academia, licensed brokers and agents, and others concerned about issues that relate to our ability to understand what we are being sold. We mostly concerned at the dramatic negative impact the Internet has had on the consumer’s ability to understand what is being offered and the diminished role the typical field Agent in that process. The CHIAG is also organized to help brokers and agents enhance and elevate their skills. The CHIAG has created a Licensed Certified Field Broker/Agent ( Click Here) designed to improve the agent’s level of expertise and to improve the consumer’s perception of the importance of engaging a local field oriented agent in their decision making process.

The general public, small business and licensed field Insurance agents are encouraged to become frequent visitors to www.MyHealthInsuranceAdvisor.org wherein they can find help, direction, training and encouragement. CHIAG is staffed and organized to help balance the playing field between the providers and those who use the health care plans they provide. The main difficulty in achieving this mission is the challenge of bringing a better understanding of Health Care Coverage products to the Internet and non-Internet shopper. This is the result of the practical reality that those who are seeking are mostly subject to the promotion, advertising and generally one-sided information created by public and private organizations seeking to profit from the transaction with little concern for what may be in the best interest of their customers. We believe health care is far too important an issue to be left solely in the hands of private enterprise because health care is not a free open market. If it were consumers would have more choice and they would also be much better informed and served.

CHIAG is structured to ally itself with anyone who can help further its cause including: brokers, agents, government agencies, other non-profit organizations, educational institutions, public advocates, media companies, medical groups, hospitals as well as pharmaceutical houses and other support organizations. The only requirement is that such organizations find themselves in harmony with the CHIAG mission and agent’s pledge.

The Mission of the Consumer Health Insurance Advocacy Group is two fold:

1. To level the playing field between consumers and Health Care Coverage Providers and insurance companies by providing the consumer with meaningful information that is easy to access and understand.

2. Provide assistance to those licensed field brokers and agents who are committed professionals who want to better serve those seeking health care plans.
